BERG PlayBase Climbing Frame Installation Guide
(For Medium and Large Sizes)
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for the safe and correct installation of your PlayBase, whether you have the Medium (290 cm) or Large (380 cm) frame.
Following these steps will ensure that your climbing frame is securely installed, providing a safe and fun environment for play, sports, and relaxation.
Tools & Materials Required
✔️ Measuring tape
✔️ Spirit level
✔️ Shovel (for inground installation)
✔️ Drill & screwdriver
✔️ Wrench set
✔️ Rubber mallet
✔️ Protective gloves
Step 1: Choose the Perfect Location
Before you begin, select a safe and level surface for your PlayBase.
- Ensure 2.2 meters of clearance around the frame for safety.
- The surface should be flat, stable, and free of obstacles (trees, fences, walls).
- Soft surfaces (grass, soil, sand) are ideal for inground installation.
- Hard surfaces (pavement, concrete) require anchoring solutions.
Step 2: Unbox & Check Components
Lay out all the components and cross-check with the instruction manual to ensure you have everything.
- Medium PlayBase: Frame (290 cm x 100 cm x 295 cm)
- Large PlayBase: Frame (380 cm x 100 cm x 295 cm)
- Included accessories (swings, climbing walls, bars, etc., based on your purchase)
Step 3: Assemble the Frame
1️⃣ Position the Side Beams – Lay the two vertical side beams parallel on the ground.
2️⃣ Attach the Top Beam – Secure the horizontal top beam to the side beams using the provided bolts and washers.
3️⃣ Tighten All Screws – Use a wrench and screwdriver to fully tighten the connections.
4️⃣ Check for Stability – Ensure the frame is properly aligned and all bolts are secure before proceeding.
Step 4: Inground or Surface Mounting
Option 1: Inground Installation (Recommended for Maximum Stability)
✔️ Dig foundation holes –
- For Medium PlayBase, dig four holes (40 cm deep x 30 cm wide).
- For Large PlayBase, dig six holes (40 cm deep x 30 cm wide).
✔️ Insert the frame legs into the holes, ensuring the structure remains level.
✔️ Fill holes with concrete for extra stability (optional).
✔️ Allow concrete to dry for 24-48 hours before attaching accessories.
Option 2: Surface Mounting (For Hard Ground/Concrete Areas)
✔️ Use BERG anchoring kits to secure the PlayBase on a solid surface.
✔️ Drill anchor holes and bolt the frame into place.
✔️ Double-check all connections to ensure they are tightly secured.
Step 5: Attach Accessories
Once the frame is securely installed, attach your PlayBase accessories:
🔹 Swings – Hook onto the top beam using the provided carabiners.
🔹 Climbing Net & Wall – Secure to the side beams with bolts.
🔹 Pull-Up & Dip Bars – Fasten with screws at your preferred height.
🔹 Hammock – Attach to the side beams using durable hooks.
⚠️ Always check that accessories are securely attached before use.
Step 6: Safety Checks & First Use
✔️ Inspect all bolts and screws – Ensure they are tight and stable.
✔️ Test each accessory – Apply pressure to swings, nets, and bars to verify their strength.
✔️ Check ground stability – Ensure the frame is firmly planted and does not wobble.
✔️ Supervise first use – Let children use the PlayBase under supervision to ensure safety.
Maintenance & Safety Tips
🔹 Regularly check bolts and connections for wear and tear.
🔹 Inspect accessories for fraying (e.g., ropes, swings, hammocks).
🔹 Keep the area around the PlayBase clear of hard objects.
🔹 Use safety mats underneath the play area for extra protection.
🔹 Store removable accessories indoors during extreme weather.
